The story found: A short history of what it was, and what it became.

“At first the world was ours. And we took it for granted. Voices could be heard, whispering, only whispering, that we are killing it. The whispers remained whispers, and soon, the path towards destruction was one without return.

It was clear, that in the centuries to come, the world would die, habitat by habitat, microclimate by microclimate, species by species. Panic took over. After years of research, after dismissing project after project, humankind was clueless on how to undo all the harm that “living” did to the planet. Until one day.

Apparently, out of pure luck, somebody came across a thousand year old scroll, containing some rough sketches of the, so called, Rainbow Ark. it seemed, from the start, that this might be the break Earth needed.

Here the details are a bit unsure, as how, or where they started building it. What it’s known, is that all nations came together, for the first time in history, to build this in secret facilities.

Module by module, the circle around the world would be completed, and put together in an otherworldly effort. If only we had found it earlier.

From before the building, we knew what it was designed for: a huge, green power plant, that, if build sooner, maybe millennia sooner, the destructive path could have been avoided. But now it’s here, and we can start saving the world. it lies free of the pest we became, healing itself, and hopefully restarting.

Leaving earth, we made a promise: we would leave it alone. So now we are looking up, finding new worlds to get our raw materials, but keeping in mind the lessons we learned. We still depend on earth for some of them, but in time, we will keep our promise. […]“

What it is

Every planetary body (including the earth) is surrounded by its own gravitational field, which exerts an attractive force on all objects.

Assuming a spherically symmetrical planet, the strength of this field at any given point is proportional to the planetary body’s mass and inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the center of the body.

The action of earth’s gravity on one point, on several points, and then on infinite points around the planet is directed towards the center of the earth.

This way we can achieve a “round the earth” floating structure, as a circle, if the structure is placed on the equator (as this is only section through the center, that’s a circle).

Given that all the opposite poles radius modules are the same weight, the circle will float under the action of gravity. (One action becoming the others reaction) The Ark is placed around earth’s equator, as this is the only section through the center, that’s a circle.

A mega structure, that uses earth’s gravity pull, to float up in the sky.

Stage one – The Power plant

The main advantage of the placement, shape and size of the Ark is that it can generate green electricity, and ship it to earth. At first, the Rainbow Ark will be providing power for earth’s inhabitants.

With its huge air turbines, harvesting power in the troposphere, and vast solar power plants, harvesting energy in the stratosphere, the Ark will provide enormous quantities of electricity. At this stage, some maintenance crews will be stationed on the Ark.

Stage two – the Ark

This stage would happen in a world that’s dying. it won’t die abruptly, but gradually, species by species.

So each endangered species will have its habitat fully recreated on the Ark, and moved there, together with more maintenance crews. In time the habitats will become autonomous, ad will be functioning as they would on earth.

So, as the number of species stored on the Ark is growing, so is the number of human inhabitants, gradually getting to stage 3.

Stage three – the Finality

In the same scenario, the last dying habitat on earth will probably be humankinds.

So following the pattern, they will come to call the Ark home. This, of course, is a last resort action, when no other solution exists.  The cities will be growing organically, as they did on earth. This migration can occur also in an overpopulation scenario.

This transition will not be as abrupt as it sounds, as close to half of the population will be already living in the cylinder by now.
